no not those cloth ones we are forced to wear when out shopping but the at home spa treatment kind which makes our skin feel amazing whilst giving us chance to relax. What makes all of these face masks even better is that they are all contain 100% ingredients and are not tested on animals.
I have always been a fan of the Lush fresh facemasks, and as they need to be kept in the fridge they also have that added cooling effect but the best part? If you are like me and could probably open up a lush shop from your bathroom then you can return five empty clean pots and get one of these little beauties for free!!! which is great if like me you sometimes put them in the fridge and forget they are there, not great when Lush recomend that they should be used in 4 weeks! My favourite of the lush was the brush strokes but as it is only sold in the liverpool stores unfortunately this iscan only be an occasional treat for me but definately worth checking out if you are ever in the area!!

This has led me to try to find some alternatives which have a longer shelf life and discovered the Jelly Facemasks from Lush, however these were discontinued shortly after discovering these (Why Lush, WHY??). This is shame as these were one of my favourite face masks of all that I’ve tried and a little went a long way. You just need to pinch off a small amount and warm between your hand, apply and enjoy! Lets hope these make a swift return!!!

I was sent this face mask by Lush in additon to the one supplied in my monthly lush subscription box as the one included wasnt vegan but unfortunalty I cannot get past the smell to try this one. It will be fine if you love the smell of coffee but for me its just too overpowering. Sorry Lush

I don’t normally shop alot in the Body Shop but I was gifted the Matcha tea mask by a friend as a Christmas present so I tought I had nothing to lose by giving it a whirl. I was pleasently suprised by this mask. They are fairly expensive compared to their lush counterparts at around £18 per mask but they do last a long time. They are also labled vegan on the bottles and if you are buying online then you can filter on their wide range of vegan products and often have offers on their website to save you a few pennies. I bought mine from their outlet store so the discounts we aready applied. The charcoal one came as part of a gift box with a face wash. all three of the products left my skin feeling soft and clearer but my favourite was the Charcoal one. It had a nice tingling sensation and cleared my pores out nicely. I did find the anti pollution mask did burn my face a little so for this reason it was my least favoutite.
Let’s deep dive a little more with these products. I’m going to start with the Himalayan Charcoal purifying glow mask. I got this as part of a gift set. (Last jar of face mask in the whole shop!) this one gives a cool tingling sensation when applying. I would recommend taking the body shops advice of applying with a brush as otherwise it gets everywhere. It has lots of scrubby bits which are great when washing off to give a good scrub but do find they seem to travel when applying and flake off a bit! I usually leave on for around 20 minutes as I’m lazy or as long as I can’t before I cannot move my face anymore. It cost around £18 which is quite expensive but so far I’ve used around 3-4 times and there is still around 2/3 of the jar remaining so works out quite good value for money at around £1.50ish per application. Since using I have found my skin is softer and clearer. I have been teaming it up with the tea-tree anti-imperfection night mask. I would give this mask 6/10
The verdict? for now the Body Shop charcoal mask is my clear winner but my quest to find the ultimate face mask continues. I will update this blog as I find new vegan cruelty free face masks to try!!
